Business Accounts: Restaurant owners may create business accounts and post deals. Information provided by business accounts, including restaurant name, location, offers, and contact details, may be displayed publicly within the App.

Communications: We collect information when you contact us via email or respond to CookIn communications.

Messaging: When you use CookIn’s in-app messaging features, we collect and process the content of messages you send and receive. Messages are transmitted through our systems to deliver communications between users. CookIn may retain message data temporarily for delivery, moderation, and safety purposes, and to enforce our Terms & Conditions. All messages are automatically deleted within 60 days unless required for investigation or legal purposes.

B. Information Collected Automatically

When you use the App, certain information is automatically collected, including device information (e.g., device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers), usage data (e.g., pages viewed, app interactions, crash reports, and feature usage), and location data (only if you grant permission in your device settings).

C. Information from Third-Party Services

We use third-party SDKs and analytics tools, including Firebase, MixPanel, Google Analytics, Google Maps, and Apple Maps, to understand how users interact with our App and to improve functionality.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information for the following purposes: to create and maintain your account; to operate, maintain, and improve the App and user experience; to display user-generated content, including reviews, videos, and restaurant deals; to provide in-app messaging and facilitate communications between users; to personalize your experience, such as suggesting nearby restaurants or relevant deals based on your activity and location settings; to send notifications, updates, and promotional communications (you may opt out at any time); to provide customer support and respond to inquiries; to verify user identities, prevent fraud, and maintain a safe user environment; to monitor and analyze usage and performance; and to ensure compliance with our Terms & Conditions and moderate content.

Tracking and Analytics: CookIn does not use tracking technologies for advertising purposes. Some analytics tools may collect device identifiers or usage data to help us understand app performance and improve user experience. Where required by Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework, CookIn will request your permission before enabling any tracking across apps or websites owned by other companies.

3. How We Share Information

We may share information as follows: with service providers, such as third-party vendors and analytics providers (e.g., Firebase, MixPanel, Google Analytics) who help us operate and improve the App; with other users, as any content you post (reviews, photos, videos, or profile information) may be visible to other CookIn users and, in some cases, the general public (private messages are not shared publicly); for legal and safety reasons, including to comply with law, regulation, or legal process; or in a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition. We do not sell personal information to third parties.

4. Your Choices and Rights

You can update your account information at any time through your profile settings. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at info@cookin.app. All data will be deleted within 60 days of confirmation. You can opt out of promotional emails by following the unsubscribe instructions in any email or by contacting us directly. You can enable or disable location access through your device settings.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to provide our Services and comply with legal obligations. User data is permanently deleted within 60 days following a verified deletion request. Messaging data and system logs are retained for up to 60 days to ensure safe platform operation and enforce our Terms & Conditions, unless required longer for investigation or legal purposes. All personal data is stored and processed in the United States.

6. Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to safeguard your information. Messaging data is transmitted securely using industry-standard encryption protocols where applicable. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, CookIn will notify you in accordance with applicable law and take reasonable steps to mitigate any potential harm. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children’s Privacy

CookIn is intended for users who are 13 years of age or older. Individuals under 13 are not permitted to create an account or use the App. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided us with information, we will delete it immediately.

8. Links to Other Services

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services not operated by CookIn. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites.

9. Changes to This Policy

11. Messaging and User Communications

CookIn allows users to communicate directly through in-app messaging. We take user safety and privacy seriously. Message content is stored securely and deleted automatically after 60 days unless required for investigation or legal purposes. CookIn does not share or sell message content to third parties. We may review message content if required to investigate violations of our Terms & Conditions, prevent fraud, or comply with legal obligations. Users may report abusive or inappropriate behavior, and reported messages may be reviewed by our moderation team. Users may also block or mute other users to prevent further direct communication. When content or messages are reported, CookIn may review the material and take appropriate action, which may include removing content, suspending accounts, or notifying law enforcement if legally required. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to request access to the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about them; request deletion of personal information we hold about them, subject to legal exceptions; opt out of the sale of personal information (CookIn does not sell user data); and receive equal service and pricing, even if exercising these rights.
